The Kelsey Elizabeth Taylor Foundation Scholarship
The KET Foundation Scholarship is committed to helping individuals suffering from the lifelong challenges created by either sickle cell disease (SCD) or leukemia to attend and succeed in the educational arena. The KET Foundation networks with local hospitals, schools, support groups and other key stakeholders to increase academic achievement of individuals suffering from sickle cell disease or leukemia.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must have a diagnosis of sickle cell disease or leukemia.
Applicant must submit a completed KET Scholarship Application.
Applicant must submit a letter from their physician or member of their medical team confirming their diagnosis of sickle cell disease or leukemia.
Applicant must provide evidence of registration and enrollment at a vocational, two-year or four-year accredited educational institution, which can be verified by the KET Foundation Board.
Applicants may not be related to any member of the Board of Directors or staff.

Application Process
1. Completed application form.
2. Cover letter addressed to the Scholarship Committee. The letter should contain a brief explanation about yourself and your educational plans (vocational school, college/university, intended major or area of interest, and anticipated start date). Letter should not exceed one (1) page.
3. Proof of acceptance/enrollment from educational institution.
4. One (1) letter from applicant’s physician or member of applicant’s medical team confirming their diagnosis of sickle cell disease or leukemia.
5. Two (2) letters of recommendations from choice of high school teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s character and life experience.
6. Personal Essay. Essay should be at least 1-2 pages, answering the following question:
Often times people with a chronic illness can be defined only by their chronic illness. How do you define yourself?
Award Amount
The scholarship awards vary each year. Our goal is to provide some assistance with tuition fees, textbooks, or other educational expenses.
